I think this book was published during the 2009 US Open at about the time Serena somewhat uncharcteristically berated a woman line judge who foot-faulted her at a rather crucial moment in a match, which she then lost. The attendant publicity, mostly pretty bad, may well have had a beneficial effect of book sales!
But she is undoubtedly a great and fine tennis player whose record demonstrates her prowess on the court. A book of this type has difficulty in focusing solely on Serena, as she seems often to be joined at the hip with her older sister Venus (here called V). And of course her father Richard features just as large in her life, having been her coach and mentor for so many years.
The contents are by no means solely about her tennis, and she discusses much about her private life at home. The book is written in a chatty, friendly tone and will please her many fans.
Published by Grand Central Publishing in the USA in September 2009 in hardboards and dust-wrapper with 257 pages (no index!); copies are offered at £20 plus postage.
