Mulloy's first life story (variously titled "Advantage Strker" and "The Will to Win") came in 1959 after his historic Wimbledon Men's Doubles win with Budge Patty when in 1957 Mulloy became the oldest winner of any of the 4 main Wimbledon titles, and he retains that distinction even today.
This new life story appears when he is 96, and it is an interesting collection of pieces on many incidents in his long and exciting life as an international tennis player. He certainly supped from some mighty cups as he wandered the globe rubbing shlulders with celebrities from all walks of life.
He talks frankly about his hatred for eating meat and thus the slaughtering of animals, his hatred for people who dont like dogs and his project running a substantial unwanted pets operation in Miami.
It is some years since I last saw Gardnar at Wimbledon but I always enjoyed a frank exchange of views on whatever subject consumed him at the time. He will undoubtedly go down in tennis history as one of the great doubles players, and he was by no means a slouch at singles, having served the Amercian Davis Cup team loyally for many years.
This books is a large format (8vo) paperback and it is profusely illustrated with very many black and white photos of Gardnar, mostly with world celebrities, political, entertainment and of course sporting.
The book is in a small print run and it is offered at £20 plus postage.
